Cheese, football, dairy farms, beer. Those are the usual suspects of free association and Wisconsin. French countryside, French bistro, historic vineyards, fine wine. The breaking of the association previously listed is only the beginning of Wollersheim Winery and Distillery.
Wollersheim Winery and Distillery, A Family Affair
The Wollersheim Winery, Distillery, and Bistro offer everything you need. Whether it’s a short trip or a day’s journey, you will be rewarded with something special.
Once you turn onto the lovely grounds you are transported into a whole other experience. It’s gorgeously simple. It feels so organic. Its beauty looks effortless, like the place itself, naturally grew out of the ground. But there is a documented past that still runs through the family.
And if you get the joy of interacting with any member of the Coquard family, their kindness will make you feel beyond welcomed into a family workday more than a business.
Lots of Local Love
Their business is based around the hard work of the harvest which they plan and work towards all year but within the hard work, they’ll tell you it’s good work and lots of fun. The joy is as palatable as the food and drinks.
Whether you start at the distillery or the winery, you’re greeted by food and drink.
At the distillery, you can order from the bar and get a number of handcrafted cocktails that are all made with either homemade or locally sourced ingredients. The farthest they travel is a mile away from their vineyard.
The family loves local. They love to operate within their local land. Their philosophy is that you let the land give what it gives. There is a peace and joy they have when they talk about their business and there is joy when you taste their selection of wine and spirits!
A Cafe With French Cuisine
But they don’t stop there. The craft is also in their kitchen. Romain, the owner’s son, is a trained chef that brings his passion for French cuisine and pastry to a sensational seasonal menu with a very modestly priced meal kit that gives very generous portions.
You can pop in or you can linger the day at Wollersheim. It’s a repeatable experience that will slow you down and take you away.
