Who does not love a good donut? It’s probably one of our go to sweets, any time of day! Freshly made sweetness can not be beat, but day old donuts now have a place too. Yes, you heard us right and you might love us after you read why. Donut croutons. Need we say more?
Day-old or fresh, donuts are still perfect!
These, of course, are only applicable if you don’t eat all your donuts in one sitting, Ehem, honey. To be honest, you could totally make these with fresh donuts too, and they are delicious either way! Hot out of the oven, dipped in rich chocolate ganache, or fruit preserves, oh. my. goodness!
Ice cream loves donuts too!
But wait, there is another way! Who doesn’t like a good old fashioned ice cream sundae? Well, top your next couple scoops of ice cream off with some of these crispy, cinnamony, sugary donut croutons and your casual ice cream crush just turned into a true love story!
Ingredients
Day old or fresh donuts of your choice, we used glazed Krispy Kream (like we said, day old donuts have a place now)
Cinnamon and sugar
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut your donuts into crouton sized pieces and generously sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Move them onto a lightly sprayed baking sheet (we added more cinnamon and sugar because we have health insurance). Put the pan of goodness into the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes. You can shuffle them around halfway through so they bake evenly. Serve hot out of the oven with ganache and fruit preserves or on top of ice cream!
